Who We Are:

  AN INDEPENDENT CATHOLIC CHURCH

   We are a Catholic church in the original, universal, sense of that word as well as in our inclusive form of sacramental worship. 

   Our bishops and priests trace their Holy Orders, or “apostolic succession” (the tradition of bishops consecrating other bishops), through Roman Catholic and Orthodox lines. In this way we trace our roots as far back as any other Catholic or Orthodox Church.

At St. Mary Magdalen, you are welcomed with your questions, wonderings, and personal experiences and lifestyle.

SACRAMENTAL

   We are a sacramental church. We hold that the sacraments are visible signs of a manifestation of divine grace, and are powerful aids to spiritual growth. Our priests perform the liturgy and administer the seven sacraments.

    Holy Eucharist (Communion), Reconciliation (Penance), Holy Unction (healing of the sick), and Holy Matrimony are made available to all who seek them.

   Baptism is the rite of formal initiation into Christ's church. Confirmation seals the commitment to a Christian way of life.

   Holy Orders is an initiation available to all who feel called to serve as clergy.

Our Clergy

Rev. Mother JoEllen Werthman, the Pastor of St. Mary Magdalen, holds a Master's degree in Divinity from Sophia Divinity School of the Catholic Apostolic Church of Antioch. She also holds a Master of Arts in Holistic Spirituality and Spiritual Direction from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia Ordained at the University of Metaphysics in California

She is also a Reiki Master Teacher, and a Certified Massage Therapist and Personal Counselor. JoEllen is co-founder and member of the core faculty at the Circle of Miracles School of Ministry in Wycombe, PA.

Reverend Rob Werthman is an Ordained Metaphysical Minister.  Rob holds a Master's degree in Adult Development from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA  As a graduate of Coach University , Rob is a Certified Life Coach and works with individuals who are in transition. Ordained at the Circle of Miracles School of Ministry, he is a member of the core faculty. He is also a Master Reiki Practitioner and Certified Hypnotherapist.
